Jon Lester gave the Cubs 7 strong innings with 9 K's 2 walks and only 2 hits. Willson Contreras knocked in Javy Baez with an opposite field single and that's the only run the team would need as Justin Wilson handled the eighth and then the three headed monster of Jesse Chavez, Randy Rosario, and Steve Cishek closed it out in the ninth. It was the Cubs MLB leading 17th shutout on the season.
The playoff magic number (wildcard) is 8!
The Brew Crew lost to the Pirates so the number dropped twice tonight!
