Holy cow! The first place Cubs downed Cincinnati 5-2 on Wednesday at Wrigley. Yu Darvish tossed a quality start (6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 7 K), Kris Bryant and Addison Russell each homered, and Jason Heyward knocked in two for the North Siders.
Darvish's victory was his first ever at Wrigley, and Bryant's 2-for-3 day raised his season average to .299. Craig Kimbrel struck out two of the three batters he faced to earn his fourth save of the year.
The Cubs have Thursday off before kicking off a weekend series against the Friars on Friday at the Friendly Confines. 96 games down, 66 to go.
