Holy cow! The first place Cubs beat the Tigers 9-3 on Monday behind a quality start from Alec Mills (7 IP, 3 ER, 7 K), and 3-for-5 nights from Javier Baez and David Bote. Two of Baez's hits were round-trippers, and win was the 11,000th in Cubs history.
Bote and Javy paced the offense, with David knocking in four and El Mago drove in three. J-Hey chipped in by reaching base in 3 of his 5 plate appearances, going 2-for-4 and scoring a run, and the team hit .333 with RISP.
Mills scattered seven hits and a walk across his 7 innings, and the bullpen tossed two perfect innings to seal the victory.
The series continues Tuesday at Comerica Park. 28 games down, 32 to go.
Go Cubs go!
