Holy cow! The first place Cubs beat the Cards 4-2 in Wednesday's nightcap behind Adbert Alzolay's strong spot start (5 IP, 0 ER, 6 K), two RBI apiece from David Bote & Victor Caratini, and Craig Kimbrel's first save of 2020.
Alzolay's performance was well-timed, as the game was the North Siders' fifth in three days. Ian Happ raised his season average to .315, and Kimbrel struck out three of the four batters he faced.
The Cubs have Thursday off before winding up the homestand with a three-game set against the ChiSox this weekend. 24 games down, 36 to go.
Go Cubs go!
