Hey hey! The Cubs beat the Phillies 8-3 at Wrigley on Wednesday behind two-hit nights from Pederson, Rizzo, and Hoerner and lights out work from the bullpen.
It was a long overdue win for the North Siders, who broke an 11-game skid. Hoerner's effort raised his season average to .337, and Patrick Wisdom knocked in two.
Alec Mills cruised through five scoreless innings before running into trouble in the sixth, but the Cubs had staked him to a five-run lead after two. Brothers, Chafin, and Kimbrel tossed 3.1 scoreless innings to seal the victory.
The series wraps up on Thursday in Chicago before the Cards come to town for a three-game weekend set that kicks off on Friday. 87 games down, 75 to go.
Go Cubs go!
