Holy mackerel! The Cubs plastered the Pirates 10-1 on Sunday behind a dominant start from Javy Assad (7 IP, 1 ER, 7 K), a three-hit, five RBI day from Cody "Extend Me Now" Bellinger, three RBI from Jeimer Candelario, and a 2-for-3 day from surging Seiya Suzuki.
Keegan Thompson looked sharp in his return from an extended IL stint, allowing just one hit while striking out five over two innings of relief work in his first appearance since May.
With the win, the North Siders kept pace with the red-hot Brewers, who come to Chicago on Monday to kick off a three-game set at the federal landmark.
130 games down, 32 to go. Go Cubs go!
